March 22-23: Filming on location, Charlotte, NC Frank makes a starring appearance as the fiercely obsessed but lovable vigilante, "Ginger Lafferty", in the Toxic Avenger off-shoot feature, Toxic Tutu.

April 4, GonzoFest, Louisville, KY A celebration of the life and work of Hunter S. Thompson. Paintings by Frank Messina inspired by "The Gonzo Way" plus Frank reads Thompson's work accompanied by Tyrone Cotton, guitar; Tim Brothers, bass; Mike Hymen, drums. April 17: Cathedral of St. John the Divine, New York City The annual reading of key selections from the Inferno by Dante Alighieri. This dramatic literary event will take place in the Cathedral, with selected Cantos read by honored guests, distinguished poets, eminent translators and visiting scholars including Michael Palma, Charles Martin, John Ventimiglia, Frank Messina, Paolo Valesio, Annie Finch, John Simko, Anthony Vicusi, Eileen Myles and others. July 6-20: Filming on location, Manhattan Film Institute, Greenport, Long Island, NY, Filming for Frank's short film, "Grunt", about a soldier returning from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

August: Frank makes final edits to his forthcoming book of poetry.

August 15, Filming on location, New York City Frank has principle role in the indie short film project, "Wear".

Jack Kerouac: The Florida-New York Connection
The 2nd Annual Celebration of the Jack Kerouac Writer-in-Residence Project

Legendary composer and early Jack Kerouac collaborator David Amram and his quartet (Kevin Twigg, drums; Rene Hart, bass; Adam Amram, percussion) perform music of Kerouac's era and accompany actors Michael Shannon (Man of Steel, Boardwalk Empire), John Ventimiglia (The Sopranos) and poet, actor and spoken word artist Frank Messina as they read the works of Kerouac. Special guest speakers include author and biographer Joyce Johnson, Kerouac Project co-founder Summer Rodman and former Kerouac Project resident and novelist Maya Sloan. Guest vocalist Trisha O'Brien.

Proceeds will support The Jack Kerouac Writer-in-Residence Project of Orlando, Florida, home to nearly fifty writers since the Fall of 2000. Each competes with a worldwide pool of applicants to live and create, rent-free, for three months at a time.
