April 1, Cathedral of St. John the Divine, New York, NY The annual reading of key selections from the Inferno by Dante Alighieri. This dramatic literary event will take place in the nave of the Cathedral, with selected Cantos read by honored guests, distinguished poets, eminent translators and visiting scholars including Messina, Wyatt Prunty, Michael Palma, Willliam Louis-Dreyfus, Charles Martin, Paolo Valesio, Cynthia Zarin and others. April 11, Timucua White House, Orlando Florida, David Amram
presents Jack Kerouac: The Florida-New York Connection, celebrating the legacy of Kerouac and his twelve years in the Sunshing State. Music by David Amram with Jazz Poetry Readings by special friends of the Kerouac Project. David and friends will honor the birth of Jazz Poetry traditions by joining Kerouac’s words with original music. Messina will present original spoken word pieces flavored by Amram’s compositions. Local artist Amanda LeClere will be painting live during the performance. Artwork by Frank Messina, Amanda LeClere, Karen Russell and Pamela Z. Daum will be on display and available for sale.
